Tyler & Marky: Magical Mayhem is a 2021 American animated fantasy comedy film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the third installment in the Tyler & Marky CGI reboot franchise and the sequel to Tyler & Marky 2 (2015), it was directed by Chris Buck and Phil Johnston and co-directed by TBD, from a screenplay written by Jennifer Lee, Johnston, Eyal Podell, and Jared Bush. It feature the voices of Zac Efron, Bill Hader, Kristen Bell, Will Ferrell, Maya Rudolph, and Andy Samberg reprising their roles from the previous films, joined by newcomers Brooklynn Prince (replacing Ariel Winter), Alison Brie, Katherine Langford, Sam Rockwell, Kristen Wiig, Sterling K. Brown, Danny Trejo, Anna Kendrick, and Jake Johnson. In the film, Tyler and Marky comes across Tyler's old friend Alvina Freeman, who tried to recover the magic of Spellville after the city's magical gemstone was stolen by a heartless, evil villain. So, it's up to Tyler, Marky and their friends must work together to travel to Spellville to retrieve the stolen gemstone and prevent her from unleashing powerful forces.

Tyler & Marky: Magical Mayhem premiered at the El Capitan Theatre on August 1, 2021 and was originally set to be theatrically released in the United States on August 13, 2021. However, in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the film was released direct-to-streaming on Disney+, along with a simultaneous limited run at the El Capitan Theatre. It was also released in theaters in countries without the streaming service. The film received mixed reviews from critics, praising its animation, voice acting, humor, faithfulness to the original television series, and entertainment value for families, although its plot was criticized. A fourth film is currently in development.

Theatrical[]

Tyler & Marky: Magical Mayhem was originally set to be theatrically released in the United States on March 12, 2021, by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. But, it was being shifted to August 13, 2021, with Raya and the Last Dragon taking its place. These shifts were reportedly made in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, on March 23, 2021, Disney announced the cancellation of the film's theatrical release, and it instead was released worldwide on Disney+ in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, on August 13, 2021. The film also played a one-week theatrical engagement at Hollywood's El Capitan Theatre from August 13–19, 2021. In international markets where Disney+ is not available, it was released theatrically. The film had its world premiere at the El Capitan Theatre on August 1, 2021.

On July 4, 2023, it was announced that the Disney movies The Marvelous Mickey Mouse, Tyler & Marky: Magical Mayhem, and Sidequest: The Lost World would be released in theaters in the United States throughout late 2023 as part of Disney's 100th anniversary, with Tyler & Marky: Magical Mayhem releasing in theaters on September 15, 2024, accompanied by the short film Paperman, which previously preceded with Wreck-It Ralph (2012).

A teaser trailer was officially released online on Walt Disney Animation Studios' YouTube channel on November 6, 2020. The film's official trailer was later released online on February 12, 2021. The film's final trailer was later officially released online on June 15, 2021.

Disney partner with more than 100 licensing and promotional partners to market the film including General Mills, Funko, Target, Fandango, Dodge, McDonald's, and Kraft. A Lego video game based on all three films was announced, and was released on August 10, 2021, three days before the film's release, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Sega Fusion, Sega Prime and Nintendo Switch.

A collaboration with Minecraft, featuring content from the film as well as content from the overall franchise, was released in the game's marketplace in August 2021.

On September 10, 2021, it was announced that Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment would release Tyler & Marky: Most Wanted on Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray, DVD and Digital on October 5, 2021 in the United States, and October 26, 2021 in the United Kingdom.

Bill Hader said that Magical Mayhem would be the final installment in the reboot franchise, but series creator Erica Miller disclosed a possibility of a fourth film, as Walt Disney Animation Studios was not ruling out that possibility. In February 2023, during an announcement of major layoffs at Disney, CEO Bob Iger also announced that seven animated franchises would continue with an additional film each, one of which is Tyler & Marky 4. Zac Efron also confirmed that he will reprise her role as Tyler in the sequel. In July 2023, Miller, stated that the film will be "the biggest Tyler & Marky film yet" and is set to "blow audiences away".

After originally being marketed as the finale, Disney announced on February 8, 2023, that a fourth film would be released by Walt Disney Animation Studios.
