Switched is a 2006 American computer-animated fantasy comedy film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation and released by Walt Disney Pictures. The film was directed and screenplay by Don Hall and Chris Williams in their feature film directorial debut and produced by Clark Spencer. The film stars the voices of Isla Fisher, William Shatner, TBD, TBD and Leslie Mann. The plot is loosely based on the 1881 novel The Prince and the Pauper by Mark Twain.
The film tells the story of an teenage princess named Ramona finds an unexpected friendship when she meets a popular pop star named Alana Lake. When these two meet, they decided to magically switch places each other, with Ramona becoming a pop star and Alana becoming a princess.
Switched was released in the United States on March 3, 2006, and was met with mixed critical reception but was a box office success, grossing $376 million worldwide on its $150 million budget. The film was also nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film.

In February 2005, Mark Mothersbaugh was revealed to be joining Disney to score Switched. Walt Disney Records released the soundtrack on February 28, 2006.

Switched was originally scheduled for a June 9, 2006 release, but Disney moved the release up to March 3, 2006, after Disney changed the release date of Cars, from November 2005 to June 2006.

The film was first revealed in its official teaser in front of the preceding Disney animated feature The Déjà Vu in theaters.
Home media[]
Switched was released on DVD and VHS on August 15, 2006. However, the VHS version was only an exclusive for the Disney Movie Club. It was re-released on Blu- ray on November 21, 2006, and then on a Blu-ray and DVD combo pack on March 20, 2012, then individually on Blu-ray 3D on September 13, 2011. It was re-released again on Blu-ray on December 6, 2016.
