Miniature is a 2006 American computer-animated comedy fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Feature Animation. The 52nd Disney animated feature film, it was directed by Mike Gabriel from a screenplay by Philip LaZebnik, Linda Woolverton, Chris Williams and Don Hall, and stars the voices of Matt Damon, Scarlett Johansson, Patton Oswalt, Ray Romano, Anne Heche and Michelle Pfeiffer. The film follows a young man named Hamnet, who is part of a miniature medieval tribe and later discover there the world full of giant humans, as well as encounters a giant young lady named Shayla, and the duo develop a close relationship as Hamnet befriended with Shayla, but chaos occurs in the kingdom when an evil giant human named Micaela, who planning to destroy the kingdom, including the medieval tribe. So, it's up to Hamnet and Shayla to stop her before it's too late.
Miniature was released in standard and Disney Digital 3-D versions on November 22, 2006, in the United States, by Walt Disney Pictures. The film is also the last Disney animated film produced under the name Walt Disney Feature Animation before the studio was renamed Walt Disney Animation Studios. It received widespread acclaim from critics, who praised its animation, humor, and screenplay, and grossed over $415.2 million worldwide over its $150 million budget, making it the fifth highest-grossing animated film of 2006.

Release[]
In September 2004, Miniature was originally scheduled for a July 21, 2006 release, but on December 9, 2004, Walt Disney Pictures moved the release up to August 11, 2006, mainly due to Sony/Amblin Animation's Monster House was taking the slot of July 21, 2006. The film's theatrical release was accompanied by an original Disney animated short film, The Little Matchgirl.
Marketing[]
The film's teaser trailer was released on November 3, 2005 and was attached into Chicken Little a day later. Another teaser trailer was released on March 1, 2006 and was attached into Switched. The first full trailer was released on June 7, 2006 and was shown with Cars two days later. The final trailer debuted on Disney Channel on September 22, 2006 during the new episode of The Toontails.

Miniature was released on DVD and Blu-ray on March 20, 2007, in the United States and Canada. Both versions feature 1.78 widescreen aspect ratio and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound, plus music videos, interactive games, a 18-minute making-of documentary, deleted scenes, and other bonus features. The Blu-ray also includes uncompressed 5.1 audio and a BD-J game. It also released on VHS on the same day, to members of Disney's home video clubs. It was the last Walt Disney Animation Studios film to be released on VHS. A 3D Blu-ray was released on April 24, 2012.

A video game based on the film was released for the Wii, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, PlayStation Portable, PC, and Nintendo DS and was developed by Avalanche Software and published by Buena Vista Games on November 28, 2006.
Cancelled sequel[]
Disneytoon Studios originally planned to make a sequel to the film, tentatively titled Miniature: Return to the Human World. However, when John Lasseter became Walt Disney Animation Studios' new chief creative officer, he called off all future sequels Disneytoon originally planned, including sequels to Chicken Little (2005) and The Aristocats (1970), and refocused on spin-off films and original productions.
