Dancing Under the Stars is a 1972 American animated musical comedy film produced by Walt Disney Productions and released by Buena Vista Distribution. Produced and directed by Wolfgang Reitherman, it is the final Disney animated film made with the involvement of Walt Disney Productions's co-founder Roy O. Disney after his death on December 20, 1971, as well as the the first animated feature to be produced without the involvement of Walt Disney.
Dancing Under the Stars was released on November 24, 1972. The film received mixed reviews from critics, but it was nonetheless a box-office success, grossing $33 million worldwide against a production budget of $5 million.

Dancing Under the Stars was originally released to theaters on November 24, 1972. The film was re-released on March 30, 1984.
Home media[]
Dancing Under the Stars was premiered on VHS and LaserDisc on February 19, 1992 as part of the Walt Disney Classics series. The film was released on VHS and DVD as a 30th-anniversary special edition on April 9, 2002.
The remastered "Best Dance Edition" DVD ("Special Edition" in the UK) was released on October 30, 2007, in a 16:9 matted transfer to represent its original theatrical screen ratio. On August 7, 2012, the film was released as the 40th Anniversary Edition on a Blu-ray combo pack.
