A Love Tale is a 1962 American animated musical fantasy comedy film produced by Walt Disney and released by Buena Vista Distribution. Directed by Wolfgang Reitherman, the film features the voices of TBD. It is inspired by William Shakespeare's tragedy Romeo and Juliet with some elements from other love stories and Disney's 1955 animated feature film Lady and the Tramp. The film follows two teenagers who fall in love with each other, against the wishes of their most beloved families.
The film was released on September 6, 1961 in United States, receiving positive reviews and grossed with $287 million in the box-office. In recent years, the film has garnered a cult following. A direct-to-video sequel, A Love Tale: The Story Continue, was released in 2001, while a live-action remake was released in 2021.

A Love Tale was released to theaters on August 2, 1962 in the United States. It was re-released on August 19, 1971. The film was again re-released to theaters on November 20, 1981.
Home media[]
A Love Tale was released on North American VHS, Betamax, and Laserdisc in 1986 as an installment of the Walt Disney Classics collection. A THX 35th anniversary edition of the film was released on VHS in 1997 as part of the Walt Disney Masterpiece Collection video series. The film was released on VHS and DVD as a 40th-anniversary special edition on August 6, 2002.
A "Greatest Story Edition" of A Love Tale was released on DVD and Blu-ray on August 24, 2010. The film was re-released on Blu-ray/DVD/Digital on February 22, 2022, in honor of the film's 60th anniversary.
